Ministries

Our ministries radiate the spirit of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, our founder and guide. Rooted in the Gospel values, we serve through education, social service, pastoral care, and media apostolate. Each ministry seeks to spread God’s love and transform lives through faith in action. Together, we strive to build a just, compassionate, and value-based society.

Evangelization Pastoral

Following the example of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) carry out their Pastoral Apostolate as a living expression of Christ’s mission. Rooted in Gospel values, we proclaim the Good News through our lives, witnessing the transforming love of God in society. Through our mission centres and parishes across the world, we strive to make the compassionate presence of Jesus felt among the faithful. Our priests and brothers lead communities through the sacraments, prayer, and pastoral care, strengthening families, nurturing vocations, and fostering unity and charity. Reaching beyond parish boundaries, the CMI Pastoral Apostolate serves the poor, the marginalized, and those in distress—sharing their struggles and working for their holistic upliftment. Each CMI religious is called to be a witness of God’s mercy—preaching through service, reconciling through compassion, and evangelizing through love—thus continuing to build a world of faith, hope, and love.

Education Media and Communication Ministry

Inspired by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the visionary founder and educational reformer, the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) Congregation upholds education as a sacred ministry and a means of social transformation. Guided by his conviction that education is the key to human empowerment and national progress, the CMI Congregation runs numerous institutions— from primary schools to universities—across India and abroad, offering value-based, quality education that integrates faith, knowledge, and character formation. The ministry focuses on holistic development, nurturing students into responsible, compassionate, and God-centered individuals, with special concern for the poor and marginalized. In today’s digital age, the CMI also embraces the Media and Communication Apostolate as a modern tool for evangelization and nation-building. Through print, digital, and audio-visual platforms, it spreads messages of faith, hope, and moral values. Together, the Education and Media Ministry continues St. Chavara’s legacy—forming good citizens for the nation and faithful children for God.

Social Apostolate

The Social Apostolate Ministry of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) embodies Christ’s compassionate love through concrete acts of service. Rooted in the Gospel vision—“Jesus went about doing good” (Acts 10:38)—it seeks to translate faith into action by reaching out to the poor, marginalized, and voiceless. Inspired by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the ministry aims to build a just and humane society founded on love and dignity. It responds to the signs of the times through education for the underprivileged, health care, rehabilitation, Annakshtra (meals for the poor), women’s empowerment, environmental care, and social justice initiatives. The CMI Social Apostolate goes beyond charity—it is a mission of transformation. By walking with the poor and working for their holistic development, the CMIs bear witness to the compassionate heart of Jesus, making God’s love tangible and life-giving in today’s world.
